 Audio Contents of Cassettes and Records

After the 30-day backup period, we do not keep copies of your cassettes or records, in either analog or digital form. We may listen to some snippets for quality-checking and track-placing, but that's it.

If you'd like us to ensure that no one will listen to your audio at all, that can be arranged.

 Quality Guarantee

If you're not satisfied with your CDs or DVDs for any reason, let us know within 180 days and we'll re-transfer your materials for free or give you a refund. No problem.

 Damage Disclaimer

Your Responsibility
Getting your materials to Reclaim Media is entirely your responsibility. We're not responsible for any damage that may occur to them before they get here.

Our Responsibility
Damage incurred to your cassettes, records, CDs and/or data DVDs during shipment back to you is our responsibility if and only if it is a result of negligence on our part (like if we pack it improperly or send it to the wrong address).

The audio cassette players that we use, the Tascam 322, are particularly gentle on cassettes, and do not cause any more wear and tear than a normal stereo cassette player. Still, we sometimes get a cassette that falls apart in the player just because it's old and brittle or already damaged. If that kind of damage occurs for those reasons, it is not because of negligence on our part and we disclaim any responsibility for it.

Our charge for fixing broken tapes is ten dollars (but only if we actually succeed in getting the tape to play, of course).

Likewise, we are not responsible for damage incurred to your cassettes and/or CDs as a result of negligence on the part of UPS or the Postal Service (like if they drop the package in a lake or run over it with a truck... which, of course, is incredibly rare).

 Copyright

(1) Copyright law generally allows for people to make digital backups of their analog recordings like cassettes and records for their own personal use.

(2) However, you must legally own the cassette or record in the first place, and the program that is recorded on it.

We know of no one who has had problems with the law while following the above two conditions.

Still, if you fail to follow the above conditions or are charged for violating copyright law for any other reason (the law continues to change a little every year), we disclaim any legal responsibility for your violation.
